kokiriko bushi - music video
Maybe I have shown this one before but I recently found it again and it felt good! The morbidly kiddie-friendly style and high energy socked in Japanese lore (Bushi is a type of Japanese folk music genre) really makes this one stick. Not too fond of the middle parts, but I instantly forget it when the main chiptunes kicks back in. I think I watched the video so many times on loop that I know the whole skeleton dance =D
*Writes draft to next halloween*
I also recommend Hohai Bushi by the same band Omodaka ;)

Klaxons - Twin Flames
The new Klaxons video is disturbing.. Disturbingly interesting that is.. Treating the flesh as rubber and playing with the human shape and anatomy. Creepy and weird but I cant look away!
Think they got their inspiration from Brian Yuzna's Society from 1990?

Wizzdesign presents The Thunderclaps - Tudor Petru - Incredible music video
France continues to kill it in the music video world as seen in this latest piece of greatness, an un-offical video for The Thunderclaps called Tudor Petru. In collaboration with WIZZ, this animation collective are still students at the powerhouse that is Gobelins.
Having worked with WIZZ on Jesus 2000 last year, they came in with their footage and camped out for two months to create one of the more captivating and energetic pieces of live-action and 2D mixed-media we have ever seen. It also gave me tons of AKIRA associations. Incredible timing and weight on the animation throughout. I wished more movies and games understood this consept

Tron: Daft Punk Music + Poster
Check out the first release from the new TRON sound track, "Derezzed."

Tron: Daft Punk Music Montage
Trailer Park Movies | Myspace Video
Amazingly I dident love this song immediately which is kinda odd since I swallowed almost everything else that they`ve given me =D
Took a couple of repeats for it to sneak under my skin. Its still not on par with the other stuff they`ve made for the movie (I know, Ive bookmarked the songs on youtube =D) but this is also more like the way Daft Punk scoring a Tron movie would sound like I guess
Im going to the sneak peak extravaganza the suits call "Tron day" Similar to Avatar, they are going to show 23 min of footage from the upcoming movie. I sadly don't really care for the story or characters in this one. Im all in for the effects and having a good time at the cinemas. (Looking forward to watch a real 3d movie for once.. Not this up-converted crap)
The original Tron was the one to really push me into working within the CG business and is still one of my beloved, yet flawed movie that I always can curl up with after a long day or on a rainy afternoon.
The old one live on sheer nostalgic feel, the fast editing and what people thought computers looked like inside. Its was really a original tale when it first came out and had the likes of Jeff Bridges, Bruce Boxleitner, David Warner, Cindy Morgan to back up the light yet warm story elements..
Its light-cycle race is still, to this date, something people still recall as a genuine fun and immersive memory.. I wonder if they are even going to try and top that in the new one. I hope not, but the marketing and hollywood sense says otherwise
The new one looks to have been thoroughally upgraded into the dark and slick and the more flamboyant "reloaded" style.. Which I don't mind at all. If the rest is good that's a plus.
I've decided a long time ago that I will love this no matter what anyhoo =)

Super Mario Bros. Rap-remix by "LevarAllen"
A friend of mine sendt me this link saying. "Im not into rap, but Im diggin the hell out of this tune" Im not the biggest rap-listner myself (though I do occationly listen to Jurrasic 5, Roots, Arrested Development, Busdriver, Roots Manova, Dangermouse etc) I am however one hundred prosent behind him on this one. Its catchy as hell, talended written and put together, and a genuinly nostalgic song all together! Spead the word!

OK Go! has some amazing videos!
Their songs are also catchy and sweet... Got to love it.. The thing is that with every movie, the band must be wearing themselves out trying to find out something new and creative..! Making music is hard!
And this is what actully goes in the making of the last movie there:
Holy shit! Planning is everything.. (too bad its not really all in one take)

Patton Oswalt's "Christmas Shoes"
Oh lord... =D
Patton Oswald (king of queens) is a great stand-up comedian. He`s got extremely good timing and is like me, a bit of a nerd. I would highly recommend that you seek out his shows. Here he is talking about his least favorite song of the holidays:

Video Premiere: Basement Jaxx: "Feelings Gone"
After the first run through of Jaxx`s new music video and song I was a bit dissapointet.. but decidet to let it grow on me.. Now I am diggin it! And so should you!
Space travel meets puppetry in this cosmically charming clip.
Somewhere between 2001: A Space Odyssey and the puppets from "Mister Rodgers' Neighborhood" lies this new one from video innovators Basement Jaxx. In it, the Jaxx and their friends try to save electro-funk singer Sam Sparro, who plays a wayward astronaut. Did we mention their real heads are stuck onto little puppet bodies? (Of course, this isn't the first time the Jaxx have had their heads superimposed.) Andy Soup directs.
The new Basement Jaxx album, Scars, is out October 6 in the U.S. via Ultra and September 20 in the UK via XL.

Spotify!

Since Spotify is now on the Iphone after along await from Apple to approve it, id thought that I would share some of my music with you good folks ;)
The app couldn't have come at a better time. Its fast and reliable. You need a premium account for it to work with the Iphone but its not that expensive since I have totally abandoned Itunes as the main music-player in my life. Also you can DL the playlists so that you don't have to have it streaming all the time, as well as getting better bits per rate and no "Jonathan" on the regular version on your machine. Works great. The only thing that bothers me a bout is not spotifys fault but Apple`s since you cannot have spotify working in the background. You can only play the music whilst in the the app. It also doesn't work with the earpice remote. (stop, skip, repeat). Maybe that will change in the upcoming patches from both sides. as for now Im really happy with it. Find it on app store or spotify.com
So without further a due: My playlists
*spotify:user:fisk007:playlist:6fEQXP3hHFEgydQLbjOBpO - Norwegian hits (Everything ranging from Dum Dum boys to Rune Rudberg)
*spotify:user:fisk007:playlist:0w0MPhiIbcxhnotLIfMo69 - This is most of the music that I listen too on a daily basis. (Everything from Chemical brothers, INXS to Lykke li)

*spotify:user:fisk007:playlist:5fxTogjfGME3czwLNNBSYU - Old 50s music. More to come in this one as it will soon merge into my jazz collection/animation music. It will blow your socks off!
*spotify:user:fisk007:playlist:175zPrEMfqUdNwntTKCdXS - OST (origial soundtrack) Movie-music that covers everything from the old Batman soundtrack to Hanz Zimmer to the background music from "Lost". Great for inspiration when working on your masterpice!

Smoke City - Underwater Love
Smoke City is a British band. Their music blends modern styles like acid jazz and trip hop, and borrows a lot from Brazilian styles like samba and bossa nova. They are best known for their single "Underwater Love", which was a major hit in 1996. The video to that song is notable for predating The Matrix in its use of bullet time motion. (!!!)

Video: THE KILLS - U.R.A. Fever

The American/British sleaze rock duo The Kills have resurfaced with a third long player entitled Midnight Boom. This time the production credits are handled in part by Spank Rock beat smith, Armani XXXchange and the results are swamp black and electronica tinged. The maiden voyage from the album is this tripnotic ditty accompanied by a punk film noir backdrop as envisioned by cliptip favourite, Sophie Muller. Watch the music video HERE

Video: Kokiriko Bushi by Omodaka

I found this rather distubing, yet compelling and ultimatly very "loopable" song over at Pinktentacle. Its beats are simply some of the coolest I have heard in a while and Im constantly humming it in my daily life. Also the video is really well made and funky fresh! Give it a listen. It grows on you.
Info: Omodaka’s 21st-century disco version of Kokiriko Bushi — an ancient folk song that Gokayama (Toyama prefecture) villagers used to perform for the local Shinto deities — combines synthesized vocals with a Stevie Wonder-ish bassline and ’80s video game chiptune sounds, and the wonderfully quirky and surreal video (animated by Teppei Maki) features a fragile skeleton dancer that shares the floor with lots of disembodied hands and floating eyeball-headed ladies. [Video]
Incidentally, the kokiriko is a type of percussion instrument made from old bamboo used in the roofs of traditional farmhouses. After being all but forgotten, Kokiriko Bushi was revived in the mid-20th century and has become one of Japan’s most well-known folk songs.
