THE DAY THE EARTH STOOD STILL Remake Trailer Is Here
Ahhh Hollywood. Yet, another remake on the move. This time its the beloved scifi classic "The Day the Earth Stood Still" that they are going to reinvent..
Synopsis: Updating the 1951 sci-fi classic’s Cold War and religious themes, Keanu Reeves stars as Klaatu, a mysterious man from another world who warns Earth’s humans that unless they change their gluttonous and harmful ways and pay more attention to the planet’s needs, aliens will swoop down and destroy them for good. :0
I have no idea why they would want to do remake and according to the trailer they have changed the meaning of the movie. The original was a political commentary on the fear of nuclear war during the cold war era. Obviously, they couldent keep this premise because not only would it make any sense now but it wouldn't have the same sense of impending doom and horror to us now as opposed to the people who saw the original when it was released in 1951. This "08" version talk to us about climate control and how we continue to damage the planet. Weta is in charge of the effects and all though Im all in for apocalyptic Cg inferno, its a bit sad that they are making that the eyecatcher of the movie. we will see how the movie turns out.

Ps: Apparently they went away from the Gort character but he is still very much present in the trailer (as you can see towards the end)
