King of California
"King of California" is a quirky father/daughter comedy about a teenage girl who must be the grown-up to her eccentric, unstable father. Their roles change when he manages to convince her that Spanish gold is buried under the Wal-Mart next to the Simi Valley development where they live.
If you're not familiar with the project, it's a flick produced by Alexander Payne (Sideways, Election, About Schmidt) about a guy who is released from a mental institution (Michael Douglas) who is convinced there is buried treasure out there... and he knows how to find it. So, his estranged daughter (Evan Rachel Wood) is convinced to humor the old man. The movie is their journey. I mostly find Michael Douglas stiff but one of my all time favs is "falling down" and he did bring a certain something to "One Night at McCool's" with his low life, slumpy, washed-out Elvis rutine so cant wait.. =d

1408
Plot Outline: A man who specializes in debunking paranormal occurrences checks into the fabled room 1408 in the Dolphin Hotel. Soon after settling in, he confronts genuine terror
Yeyeye.. It sounds shit and it propably is, but Im a sucker for movies that take place in in one setting. (Cube, Hard candy, Identity, Panic room, PI, Clerks, etc..) The trailer shows WAY to much unfortunately in order to hype it. Still I want to see it. Check for your self:

R.I.P - 06
Yes, a new year is here. New stuff to check out, more bills and lots more booze to consume. Hurray hurray
Had a stressful but enjoyable christmas celebration with my family then had some good friends overfor new years eve. The view from my roof was spectaluar and is easily redoable next year.
Its been a long time since Ive updated my blog but been bizzy, bizzy, bizzy...! but here is the things that I enjoyed in the year that was:
Best of 06!
Movies:
-Children of men - Really well done "sci-fi" with subtle effects and great atmosphere
-Pans labyrinth/El laberinto del Fauno - Awseome "adult" fantasy/adventure film from Guillermo del Toro with the backdraft of the Spanish Civil War. Simply breathtaking. Oscar!
-Little miss sunshine - The best feel good movie yet. I love that family!
-Lady in the water - Despite bad critics this is one of my favs from M. Night Shyamalan.
-Sideways - Not a feel good flick per se but still quite enjoyable. Have a bottle of wine close by ;)
-Stranger the fiction - Superb acting by a quiet and calm Will Ferrel. Also props goes to Emma Thompson,Maggie Gyllenhaal and Dustin Hoffman.
-Factotum - I dont really care much for Matt Dillon but no one can play a sad lonely fucked up drunk quite as he can.. Also its directed by our own Bent Hamer
-Clerks 2 - Take clerks, mix it with midlife crisis and add some profound dirty language and a dash of that nerdy humor and bitching and you got Clerks 2
-Waiting for Guffman - the whole Christopher Guest ensamble togther for the first time and boy what a group. Simply brilliant
-Hard candy - this movie really frys your noodle and for a movie that that has only 2 actors share screentime for over 1hour and 40 min, its insanly intense and gut wrenching.
Series:
-Arrested development - Got to love the Bluths. Cannot describe the delicate and sometimes blunt jokes that is in this humor feast of a series. Buh to FOX for canceling. (rumors about a film is a large)
-Dexter - Dexter for president! Dexter, a forensics expert at day, serial killer with a touch of vigilantism at night. Brilliant!
-Battlestar galactica - Frack! Remake of the old BSG the story revolves around the last survivers of humans when their former slaves "the cylons" attack their home planets. Gritty hand held scifi at is best!
-Daybreak - Think the Bill Murrays movie "Ground hog day" and add in a "framed-for-murder-and-hunted" police decective and you will know exactly what its about. Suprisingly this works really well..
Games:
-Defcon (PC)
