Vray time!

Lately I have been getting into Vray as a proprietary render for my 3d work and so far its been a dream to work with. Much thanks to http://www.spot3d.com/vray/help/VRayHelp150beta/ There are some things that Mental ray does better but Vray is faster and more correct at times plus its way more intuitive to work with. Atleast it feels like that. These are some minor tests.

Test of displacement map on sphere. Trying to emulate grass:

This is a speedmood I gave my students. they where to make a classic guitar within 2 hours. Seeing how much fun they hade with the assigment I decided to try it myself. This was done in about one hour + render time:

Test of caustics which also went pretty smooth:

This model is not made by me. I only did the lighting and materials. Vraytml (vray material is suprisingly strong and fast)

Poster for "Moon" plus trailer

I live for movies that are character-driven by a small cast and where the setting is remote, alienating and eerie, (ala: Funny games, Phone booth, Memento, Silent Running, Das Experiment, Solaris, Cube, Primer, PI, Rent Lola rent.. etc) so it might not come as a huge shock that I am looking forward to Duncan Jones "MOON"

This has got to be one of the coolest posters I’ve seen. Very simple, but also incredibly retro.

Incase you might not have heard of it, it tells the story of Astronaut "Sam Bell" who has a quintessentially personal encounter toward the end of his three-year stint on the Moon, where he, working alongside his computer, GERTY (voiced by Kevin Spacy), sends back to Earth parcels of a resource that has helped diminish our planet's power problems.

The story in itselfs isent really the drawing point but the whole consept that one man has been isolated on the surface of the moon for 3 years intrigues me. Pluss Id watch just about anything that has Sam Rockwell in it.. That guy is one of my favorite actors and can truly carry a movie all by himself (Choke). Plus you have Kevin Spacey cast as HAL9000`s creepy stepbrother.. Yay?!

Trailer:

The trailer gives you a great example of the tone of the movie. It definitely shows the unease of something going wrong right at the end of a massively long tour of exile. It also carries the worry of something even darker at stake and showcases some of the fantastic shots. Also the movie looks a bit retro when it comes to the sets and enviroments. Retro as in sets aesthetics from the 70s scifi films like Alien/2001/Silent Running. Also, it lets you see how cool a smiley face with Kevin Spacey’s voice can look like.

Transformers 2. 2 min + new trailer!

Jesus christ... I feel sad for the ILM renderfarms

At ShoWest, Michael Bay premiered a scene from Transformers: Revenge of The Fallen which featured Shia LaBeouf having a heart to heart with Bumblebee in his parent`s garage about moving off to college while Megan Fox changes into a dress outside. This is of course followed by a new kick ass montage of clips from the film you`ll notice the first real look at Devastator). Well guess what? The two and a half minute video package is now online thanks to MichaelBay.com
- Slashfilm.com

Check it out here:

Also adding some high-res photos:

While Im not fan of the "emote/over the top charismatic stereo-typical" robots, "Shia le chitchat" or "Megan fucxy"... I must say that the CGI, action and soundwork both looks and sounds out of this world!

Summer cant come fast enough!
