WipEout to use MotorStorm game engine

It has been confirmed that the new WipEout title due for release on PS3 will be using the same game engine as MotorStorm. This news could prove to be very interesting, as it indicates that the same core technology is behind both games. It is reasonable to assume then, that they should carry a similar look and feel to the player.

The WipEout series has always been about screaming round a track at break-neck speeds with a very smooth and unfaltering frame rate and nothing less would appeal to fans in the new generation.

At MotorStorm’s end of the spectrum, you’ve got the dust and dirt that’s been thrown at us. At the other, you have the sleek lines of a high-technology future world that WipEout fans have become used to.

If the engine has to support a new WipEout game then it’s fair to say we can expect great things if the MotorStorm developers take advantage of it. We should expect nothing less than perfect frame rates and that smooth flowing feeling that few other titles ever accomplish.

The MotorStorm team are taking a session at the upcoming Game Developer Conference, discussing game physics as applied in the game. Topics include destruction of objects in the environment and persistent, deformable terrain. It looks like we’re going to see a few new innovations when the game is released.

Here some videos from the gem on PS1. Best.. game.. ever...

Hot fuzz trailer

Need I say more?

The Abandoned

Plot:"An American woman searching for her birth parents learns she has inherited a house in the middle of a forest in a remote area of Russia. It is the house where she was born. Abandoned and uninhabited for 40 years, it stands in total disrepair and neglect. What she finds is more than an old house. She meets a mysterious man who claims to be her brother, a twin she never knew. Together they find the house holds secrets to a past they don’t remember. Together they are forced to relive a series of horrifying events and shocking murders that occurred just after they were born, in the place they were supposed to die.

This is by far the creepiest trailer I have seen this year.. It has a Brad Anderson`s Session 9 feel to it while some less is more effects. Looks wicked!

"A horror film told in three parts from three perspectives, in which a mysterious transmission which invades every cell phone, radio and TV, turing people into killers"

This "hilariously violent" movie looks from the trailer to be a cross between Trainspotting and 28 days later. Yay for american indie making

Sony Pictures making Metal Gear movie

Executive confirms his movie studio is working on the live-action adaptation of the seminal stealth action series; Sony also pondering EverQuest film.

At the Electronic Entertainment Expo last year, Konami revealed that work had begun on a live-action movie based on Metal Gear Solid. The news broke via a pamphlet for Studio Kojima, the Konami-owned development house headed up by Metal Gear series creator Hideo Kojima.

"I have received many offers to adapt Metal Gear Solid. It has taken a long time, but we have finally settled on an arrangement," Kojima said in a statement. "False facts aside, a movie project is underway. I have finalized a Class-A contract with a party in Hollywood."

For eight months, the identity of the aforementioned "party" was unknown. That changed this week, when Sony Pictures Entertainment vice chairman Yair Landau revealed his studio is developing the project.

"We're working with the Metal Gear guys," Landau told GameSpot following his D.I.C.E. summit keynote address in Las Vegas. "It's a very cinematic game, it really lends itself to movie telling. But the question is, 'How do you translate Snake's experience into a full arc that conforms to what audiences expect on the large screen?'"

Landau also hinted the Metal Gear Solid movie may just be the beginning. "There are other games we are looking to develop," the executive said. "We're working with one of my favorite producers right now on an idea for an EverQuest movie." The producer was apparently of such stature that Landau declined to name him. "I'll let him disclose that," he said cryptically.

Besides the forthcoming World of Warcraft film, currently in development at Warner Bros., the Metal Gear Solid movie is the highest-profile game-film project in Hollywood. Previously, that stature was held by the Peter Jackson-produced Halo adaptation, which imploded last year.
